On March 5, 2022, Head Coach for the varsity baseball team, Brent Tucker, was honored for 400 wins. Rome High School Athletic Director Chris Boden presented Tucker with a plaque to commemorate this professional milestone before a contest between Rome and Rockmart High.
Tucker had two reasons to celebrate as his Wolves came away with a win. The final score was 9-8 after 11 innings. Tucker gave his thoughts about the season and reaching 400 wins as a coach.
“It feels like I’ve been coaching a long time,” Tucker said with a chuckle after being asked about his thoughts. “This is a great milestone. We were over at Ridgeland (High School) the night that the 400th win came, and the boys had a good time with me. They dumped some water on me and we all enjoyed the moment. But now, it is back to work.”
Tucker said that he is proud of his team and how they are responding to getting better. “We have been playing a lot of good teams and there have been some close ball games. So, we are working together to push through it and continue to get better in practice. The kids are responding well to our coaches, and we are focused on improving,” he said.
The Wolves next match will take place on March 23 as the Wolves will travel to Carrolton to face a region foe. Rome will play Carrollton again at home on March 25. Please come out to support our Wolves as they look to build on their season!
