RHS Hosts Athletes and Families for Spring Signing Day

Proud parents and family members joined the Wolves for a Spring Signing Day ceremony held in the Rome High gymnasium on May 5.

Head coaches from each sport joined Principal of RHS, Dr. Eric Holland, in welcoming the crowd seated in the home stands. This year, Rome High recognized 17 students who play baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and wrestling.

Also in attendance were John Reid (Head Football Coach and System Athletic Director) and Jason Harris (Head Girls Basketball Coach and RHS Athletic Director).

Dr. Holland addressed the parents and told them that their students’ dedication to sports has made a way for them to attend college in the fall at a fraction of the cost. Comparing the four years they have played for the Wolves to a college savings plan, Holland said the investment was worth time spent learning on the court, field, pool, and track.

Each coach spoke about their players and provided the audience with the highlights of their high school careers. Families were then invited to pose for photos after signing their commitment to play at colleges and universities across the country. Some students signed up to join our hometown colleges and universities, keeping their talents right here inside the county lines.
